How To Make A DIY Cleaning Spray With Vinegar

This DIY cleaning spray is the easiest thing to put together and you can use it on everything! I’ve been making this for my home for a few years now and I hardly ever have the need to buy store bought cleaners. This cleaning spray is effective, easy to make, and cheap!

A combination of white vinegar, essential oils, and dawn soap. It’s tough on grease, simple to make, chemical free, and cheaper than most cleaners in the store.

Uses for this cleaner include kitchens, bathrooms, glass, stainless steel, and the list goes on.

I’ve been making this for myself at home for a few years now and have gotten several others hooked – including my Mom!

In this post, I’m going to share how to make the easiest and most effective vinegar cleaning spray!

TIP: Save Money, Buy in Bulk!

I buy the vinegar and Dawn soap in bulk normally because it’s cheaper and then I don’t have to worry about running out to the store when I run out of my cleaning spray.

Amazon Prime Pantry is the best – it gets shipped right to my door! You can put your items on a subscription service, not have to re-order when you’re running low, and get a discount!

Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint - How To Make All Purpose Citrus Vinegar Cleaning Spray

Tip: Use Essential Oils To Tone Down The Vinegar Smell

You can use whatever combination of essential oils you prefer.  I usually go with something like lavender, peppermint, and lemon!

I tend to add a little more lavender than the others because it smells soooo good.  The lemon always gives it that fresh clean smell while lavender makes my house smell like a spa.

I use DoTerra essential oils in all of my cleaning products. I’ve tried many different brands from cheap to expensive and I’ve found that DoTerra’s smell the most pure and they last a long time.

I use a glass spray bottle like the one pictured above.  I feel somewhat fancy with the glass than your regular plastic bottle.

And if it’s left out my counter for some reason, it doesn’t look half bad!

What you’ll need:

2 parts water

1 part white vinegar

A few squirts of Dawn soap (2 tablespoons)

20 drops of essential oils (use 10+ drops of lemon oil for that citrus smell)

Spray bottle of any kind

HOW TO MAKE: (yes, it’s this simple)

Combine all ingredients together in a spray bottle and shake it up to mix!

TIP: Keep one of these in your kitchen and one in your bathroom for easy accessibility.

Why Essential Oils For Cleaning?

Using essential oils to spruce up your cleaning routine has really changed things for me!

It’s so easy now to put together your own non-toxic cleaners and ITS CHEAPER than ones in the store.

The essential oils provide a nice smell but they also have their own cleaning properties, depending which oil you choose.

I love essential oils, but I've only ever used them for DIY beauty products and things. I want to try out some of these essential cleaning recipes though- they seem so much healthier than store-bought cleaning products. One of my friends makes her own enzyme cleaner with essential oils and uses it around her house. Do you know if it's safe to use essential oils with enzyme cleaners? I've only ever used an enzyme cleaner to remove pet urine stains
