Lake Worth Beach is a tropical destination for travelers and locals in Palm Beach County Florida. Conveniently located 10 minutes to Palm Beach International Airport, 15 minute to Downtown West Palm Beach, and 25 minutes to Delray Beach – this eclectic, charming, historic beach town will really surprise you in the best way possible!
I discovered Lake Worth, Florida about 2 years ago on a house hunting trip with my mom. I was just going through a divorce, moving from Chicago, and looking for a new place to live. My Mom and I took a weekend trip to South Florida and stumbled upon Lake Worth when we rented a random Air Bnb. I fell in love with the eclectic charm, historic cottages, proximity to the beach, walk-ability, and so much more! I loved it so much I wound up buying a little beach cottage that I now get to call my home.

“Where the Tropics Begin”
Benny’s on the Beach
One of my favorite restaurants/bars – Benny’s is located on Lake Worth Beach and has such a cool atmosphere. It’s directly on the pier which means you get the best possible views of the water. The food is quintessential Florida with tons of fresh seafood options. Oh and the DRINKS! You can get many of their tropical drinks in a cool souvenir cup that changes pretty frequently so there’s always something new. Sit at the bar with live music almost every day or on the pier and enjoy the tropical breeze – what more could you ask for?!
Go to the Beach, duh!
The public beach in Lake Worth has all the amenities; parking, restaurants, bathrooms, showers, beach chair rental, a fishing pier, and beautiful water.
Catch a Sunrise
One of the absolute best ways to start your day is to watch the sunrise. We don’t get the full on sunsets here on the east coast of Florida but the sunrises are just as good, if not better. The Lake Worth Pier is the perfect spot. There is never a crowd so bring your blanket and start your day with peace, tranquility, and of course the SUN! Depending on the time of year, you can also grab a bite for breakfast at Benny’s or Mulligan’s.
Tour The Historic Cottages
There are over 1,000 historical buildings in Lake Worth and the cottages are my favorite! They only run the supervised tour every so often but you can do the self-guided walk at any time. Use the interactive map to direct you around town to see these adorable houses.
Check Out The Little Free Library Boxes
These Little Free Library Boxes are scattered throughout town – there are about 100 of them! Each one is designed and painted by a local artist to make them unique, creative, and so cute. You can even sponsor one if you want!
Play a Round of Golf
The Lake Worth Golf Club is a 18-hole public course located directly on the intracoastal. During the summer (non-season) you can play for a steal of $20 including a cart. During the winter months, you may pay a little bit more (~$50) , but this course is still the best for the price. There are water views from almost half the course, a great bar/restaurant on site, and a beautiful sunset if you decide to stay for some food and drinks after your round!
Lake Worth Farmers Market
Every Saturday morning from October to April, Lake Worth hosts a farmers market at Old Bridge Park under the bridge by A1A. Parking is free from 9-2 so check it out to grab a coffee, eat breakfast, get some fresh local veggies, buy some handmade jewelry, and enjoy the breeze of the intracoastal. New vendors are added all the time and it makes for a perfect Saturday morning!
Eat Like A Local
Lake Worth has so many options for restaurants all within about a half mile of each other!
You can find this adorable pallet garden wall at the Java Juice Bar at Studio 205!
Stay Like A Local
Lake Worth Beach is home to so many Air Bnb properties. Stay in a historic home – like The Banana Inn – and be within walking distance to downtown full of restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops, and live music everywhere!
